I started them a long time ago, 2001 our around that time. The manipulation of photographs was just going on digitally and that is not where I came from; I came more from doing things and it’s more plastic my interest in things, really. So I was living in Barcelona and I suppose I was looking to do something that I could sustain over a period of time. Also a lot of my work takes quite a long time, like all the film projects take years and some of the other things I’ve done have taken quite a long time and many journeys. I was living in Barcelona and was used to going up to the rooftops, they were kind of like a secret space or a space that did not have a one particular reading that you understood.
